About

Sororitas is latin for Sisterhood and expresses the very essence of the choir. We are based in Cardiff, singing a range of music and sometimes feel you need an epic dance move to make a performance!

We like to have a go at all genres of music: classic movie soundtracks, upbeat musical numbers, epic harmonious hymns… we sing what makes us happy. Each year we put on an afternoon summer concert to entertain crowds in the sun and go on to end the year with our popular annual Christmas concert.

But it’s not all about the singing; we also love to natter over a nice cup of tea and enjoy going out for a good meal or to see a show

We are a non-auditioning choir and welcome ladies from all walks of life. If you are interested in joining please get in touch, letting us know which part you prefer to sing (Alto, Soprano I or Soprano II… or if you aren’t sure we can help you decide!)

Choir Leader – Jo Cox

Jo has been running the choir for over 10 years. By day she works with spreadsheets and numbers but throws down this geekiness to take on the hyperactive, slave-driving, hopefully fun choir leader role.

Accompanist – Mel Smith

Mel is Jo’s long standing partner in crime. She is an integral part of the choir and joins in with the fun and frolics as well as being the foundation of our wonderful sound. She’s also started producing some lovely arrangements for the choir. She does spoil us!

Rehearsals

Sororitas rehearse every Monday from 7pm – 9pm at Conway Road Methodist Church. Parking is on the road but the church is only a short walk from a few public car parks. We also provide refreshments!

The Sororitas year consists of three ‘terms’ with an extended break over Summer and Christmas.

We do ask members to pay fees to cover rehearsal venue costs. Any left over money is put towards socials for members.

We welcome new members all year round, however January/February and September are good times to join because we start brand new music at these times.
